Project Final Report

Project Summary

Pervious concrete pavement is growing in popularity and therefore research is needed on its skid and slip-resistance with regard to drivers’ and pedestrians’ safety during the winter.

Further research is needed to investigate the effectiveness of different deicers (NaCl, CaCl2 and MgCl2), their proper time of application, and the frequency of applications to prevent/break the bond between ice/snow and pervious concrete. Research is needed to ensure these deicers do not result in scaling and other deleterious damages to the surface and structure of pervious concrete.
