The AKDOT hydraulic engineers have identified a need for guidelines for 2D hydraulic model review and acceptance. We propose to develop basic guidelines to define what is “acceptable” or “comparable” when reviewing 2D model results generated by other organizations (i.e., state and federal agencies, and consulting companies). Two numerical models --a) the Sedimentation and River Hydraulic two-dimensional (SRH-2D) model developed by the Bureau of Reclamation, and b) the River Analysis System two-dimensional (RAS-2D) model developed by the Hydrologic Engineering Center of the US Army Corps of Engineers -- will be used in specific sites located in Alaska. Model results will be compared.
