CDL Training Available

DOT&PF is extending their partnership with UAA’s CDL instruction for the 2023 year for LTAP students! LTAP is Local Technical Assistance Program and you are eligible if you are employed by a City, Borough, Tribe or contractor who performs work for the City/Borough/Tribe (i.e. Rural Service Area road maintenance). There are 8 spots for students per session. 

Session Schedule:

January: Online January 7-8 and 14-15; driving starts January 23rd in Anchorage.

February: Online February 4-5 and 11-12; driving starts February 20th in Fairbanks.

March: Online March 4-5 and 11-12; driving starts March 20th in Juneau.

To get a jump on filling spots for this highly sought training, please follow the below steps to secure your seat.

  1. Complete a Department of Labor STEP Application to qualify for tuition funding. You must prove, through an employer letter, that you need a CDL to be hired or to advance in your current employment.  Please work directly with the DOL staff to get approval prior to the start of the course.   2. Contact Anthony Green (Anthony Green 907 227-5170 coach_akahauling@yahoo.com) to get on the roster,
  3. Create a UAA student account, then register on UAA’s website for all portions of the course.  (Register button in the bottom right for CDL Theory, CDL Exam, CDL Practical Behind the Wheel Training.) https://www.uaa.alaska.edu/academics/community-and-technical-college/programs/index.cshtml
  4. The first two weeks of CDL instruction is via ZOOM for 2 hours each day and this includes weekends.  NO TRAVEL NEEDED!
  5. You must be in-person for the Behind-the-Wheel instruction (BTW) portion of the course. BTW instruction is 2 hrs/day including weekends and will be located at DOT&PF designated training areas. 

 

**DOT&PF covers the costs to send Anthony Green (instructor) to Fairbanks and Juneau in order to offer these courses to you free of charge! Alaska Marine Logistics (Lynden) has generously supplied the testing vehicle to help Alaska get more CDL drivers on the road.**

This is the first ever CDL instruction in these locations since DMV approved CDL testing routes submitted by Anthony Green. There is monthly CDL training offered in Anchorage in addition to the first ever instruction in Fairbanks and Juneau.
